The short answer
Choose Fastmail if you want email together with a calendar, contacts and file storage in one hosted service, priced per plan or per user.
Choose VayloMail if you want your own mail server with a dedicated IP that no other customer uses, standard IMAP for your own software, and one price for the server rather than a price that grows with each person.

When Fastmail is the better choice
- You want email with a calendar, contacts and file storage in one service, managed per user.
- You have one or two people, and a per-plan price is typically the lower monthly cost. Check current pricing.
- You want to choose EU or USA as the primary location for your data.
- You want masked email addresses and aliases to keep projects or sign-ups separate.
- You want to try the service first. Fastmail lists a free trial of up to 30 days.
When VayloMail is the better choice
- You want a mail server and IP that no other customer shares, so its sending reputation depends on your mail alone.
- Your own software reads mailboxes over IMAP, and you want to size that workload with support rather than work within a per-user login limit.
- You want one flat price for the server instead of a price that grows with each person.
- You need email only, with no calendar, contacts or file storage in the same subscription.

Using both
Some teams keep Fastmail for staff and run a separate domain or subdomain on VayloMail for automation mailboxes. A domain's MX records can point to only one mail system, so plan the DNS before changing anything. Ask support to agree a DNS plan.
